La DéesseWho made this shrine? Who would do such a thing? *^.^* Please allow me to introduce myself. Name: La Déesse. No, that's not my real name *^.^* Birthday: 20 June, 1978 AD. Horoscope: Gemini (European), Earth Horse (Chinese). Blood Type: O Education: Bachelor of Arts, majoring in English, from the University of Auckland, Master of Arts in English from the same institution, with First Class Honours. What
I'd like to tell you about myself I love anime and manga. This is less recent - I remember I enjoyed Kimba the White Lion and G-Force as a child, although I didn't know they were anime. My current interest developed around the end of 1995 or the start of 96 - I wish I could remember more precisely - when DiC's Sailor Moon started on TV. My sister stayed home from school with some kind of bug and when I came home she said to me 'I saw such a weird cartoon on TV2 this morning - I think it was Japanese because they had really big eyes and little noses.' For some reason this made me want to watch it (at the time, what Kate thought was weird I usually thought was nifty) so I got up early the next morning to catch it before school, and got hooked. This, of course, was still only Americanised anime - it was through friendships made over the Internet that I got information about and access to original anime, and developed my present addiction to Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon, Tenkuu no Escaflowne, Irresponsible Captain Tylor, All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku, Fushigi Yuugi, Magic Knight Rayearth, Ranma 1/2 and Oh My Goddess! What else do I like? New Zealand music (if you haven't guessed), British comedy from The Goon Show (50s, radio) to The Fast Show (90s, TV), strange bits of Kiwiana like Shortland Street and Footrot Flats, greenstone, books by Terry Pratchett and Diana Wynne Jones (two wonderful British fantasy authors), the Beatles, lavender nail polish, candles (fire is my friend), archery, watching and making fun of Star Trek in equal parts, cats, The X-Files, heroines (Buffy, Xena, Scully, Ripley, Hitomi, Usagi and her friends), drawing (I drew the picture of me at the head of the page), writing, reading, Star Wars, Pokémon, Rugrats, vast wodges of English literature, Ewan McGregor (far too much), David Duchovny (the great woe of my life is that they're both already married and breeding), words like 'naff' and 'huckery,' cotton, why am I keeping trying to list things when I'm down to 'favourite clothing fibres'? I don't like... well, at the moment of writing most of my antipathy is directed against the jerks responsible for the way The Vision of Escaflowne is being mangled for FoxKids, and the big cut on my knee from when I fell over in Albert Park on June 21, 1999 (damn slippery path). I ended up with a scar and I don't even have Van to blame for it. When I grow up... if I grow up, I want to be a writer, possibly of comic books, taking them in a more manga-like direction. I'm not sure what else I could possibly do. There's other information about me in my other pages - visit my homepage, Air & Angels, to see what they're like. |
